Stephen W. Smith

Stephen W. Smith is an associate at the law firm of Troff, Petzke & Ammeson.  A native of Berrien County, Mr. Smith received his Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame in 1995 and his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 1998.  Prior to joining Troff, Petzke & Ammeson, Mr. Smith practiced law in the Washington D.C. area for nearly a decade.  Mr. Smith is admitted to the State Bars of Michigan, Virginia and District of Columbia, the United States Federal District Courts for the Western District of Michigan, Eastern District of Virginia and District of Columbia and is a member of both the American Bar Association and the Berrien County Bar Association.

An avid fan of local and Michigan history, Mr. Smith has authored "Jack Dempsey and the Battle of Benton Harbor" (Michigan History Magazine, May/June 2009), an account of the only heavyweight title fight in Southwest Michigan.
